Two detector heads are installed (one on each side of the belt) and their cables are interleaved under the belt, a pull with a certain force made on the cable, disarms the microswitches, triggering an alarm or stopping the conveyor.
Working principle
The damaged belt detector operates using a spring-loaded ball and socket connected to two micro switches. As an object hanging below the strap pulls the cable away, it pulls the ball connector out of its socket. The pressure of 10-20N required to trigger the alarm is sufficient to detect a tear in the belt, and strong enough to ensure that an accidental stop does not occur. Microsensors within the device are triggered, which in turn triggers an alarm to notify personnel that an event has occurred on the conveyor belt.
